couldn't you just take off the compressor and remove the belt?

because of the power steering pump mounts to the ac compresser witch mounts to the block. the bracket mounts from powersteering to block

You would be better off turning the a/c compressor into an on board air compressor, or leave it where it is at.

If I'm not mistaken the A/C compressor is on the right side and the power steering is on the left. Under the power steering is the altenator which sucks if the power steering leaks and if so equiped the smog pump sits under the A/C compressor. If there is some intermingling of brackets which there is between the power steering and the alternator then there could be slight bracket differences. That being said if there is a part of the A/C bracket (here's your hint) that has caused the power steering pump bracket to be altered A/C is an option that "SOME VEHICLES DIDN'T HAVE". Pick Your Part may have your part!

For 22r(e) that is right, but he has the 3.0, w/those the PS pump is on the right side as well.
