A case of beer for anyone that can help!
« on: Jul 16, 2011, 12:15:40 PM »
My wife has an 05 VW Beetle and the air bag light is on. I have acc want to spend ess to scanners at work but we don't have European software. I'm looking for someone local to me in the Tracy CA area to hook up to it and tell me the code. I can do the repairs my self, just don't want to spend the scanner hook up fee's that the garages have. I need to get this light fixed so we can sell it.

Thanks,

Try autozone

At least in the past you could borrow the scanner for free.

Thanks but the good state of California doesn't allow the renting or free use of auto scanners!

I know a guy that would probably do this for free but he's not in Tracy. He's hooked me up in the past w/ stuff like this when we had my wifes Jetta.

Thanks Dave but I have a few of those obd2 code readers and they only read engine codes. I need one that reads European safety restrant system (S.R.S) codes.

Thanks but the good state of California doesn't allow the renting or free use of auto scanners!

Reason number 3758 to NOT live in Commifornia.     Autozone won't do it for you?    The ones here will get the codes from the computer and sometimes they will reset them for you.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Check with the dealer if it is still a warranty issue, sometimes the airbag systems warranties go beyond the normal vehicle warranty.

Called the steelership and nothing for the air bag light. Talked to a friend that worked at a body shop and he said to disconnect the battery and all the sensors for 20 minutes then reconnect everything then connect the battery. Just haven't had time to try it.
