r u f spring bushing question
« on: Aug 02, 2010, 09:17:49 PM »
hey people, is there an oddball front urithane bushing i can use so the stock 85 front spring hanger pin will fit snug inside the bushing?  like from a dodge truck or a ford truck that anyone knows of?

i bought energy suspension bushings, pressed the old bushing out (with the steel center sleeve) and installed the new bushing without the new steele sleeve.  there is too much slop in it for my taste.

i was gonna go hunting tomorrow for one but if someone knows what to get please chime in. thanks

Ive had to go to Lowes, take the bushing and the bolt and find a piece of tube that took up the slop...had good luck getting a good fit this way....

thanks, what i did is use the metal insert that comes with the energy suspension bushings and had my machine shop turn the front pins to fit tightly inside these.

only problem is the steel is so hard (about 65 rockwell) i had to pick them up and drive clear across town to a specialty metal finishing shop to have the metal softend,  the threaded part is softer and so is the flat part on the end, but where the bushing rides is hard as heck!
