Fathers day Bald mountain run
« on: Jun 20, 2010, 08:50:41 PM »
Here are a few pics of our trip to Bald. The snow has finally melted off and made it possible for me to get to the tower! I let my Wife drive off the mountain and I think I may have created a monster!
Couple of poser shots, but we had a ton of fun, and thats what it's all about. Only casualty on the trail was my Masterflow compressor... Eh, what else did I expect?!

We are heading up this weekend to check it out.  Can't wait.  Nice and clear trail with no snow.  This sounds like a great plan!!

Nice! I figured some board members were out and about. Trail was nice, but very dusty in some areas. Steve, the temp was just right out there. Thankfully my compressor crapped out after partially filling the last tire so I was able to get into Shaver and air up proper.

If you are up there again, look for us.  That stinks that the compresser took a dump.  Take it back and get a new one.  Dusty??? Darn.  That means I have to go up with my windows shut to keep my truck clean inside.  You have to go up there for moonlight madness.  It is great.  You will regret if you miss it!

I think I'm screwed with the compressor, I modified the crap out of it, but it's worth a shot to try a return. Moonlight madness sounds awesome! I'll be back in Pennsylvania visiting family until mid July but after that I'm down for a moonlight run. I know you brought up having a trail cleanup day and boy does it need it. My wife and I picked up a bunch of trash but didn't get it all.

When we are up there, we will take a few large trash bags and do our part.  So sad that there is that much garbage on the trail.  Respect for the land we use needs to be taught to young and old.  I can't tell you how much it irks me when we see garbage all over the trail.  Idiots that do that are only giving those that want to shut that trail down to OHV rigs more fuel for their fire!!!!  Pack it in and then pack it out.  Use your brain once in a while??  It can't hurt that much, can it???? :hammerhead:

I didn't think ahead of time to bring a trash bag, all we had were 2 grocery bags from our trail snacks and filled them both.

You're darn right! The economy is crap, and doesn't appear to be getting better. Thanks for your 19 years, that's quite an accomplishment.

can you update on how Rock Creek Road is and the various campsites along the way from Dinkey Creek Road to the trailhead are as far as snow goes. Planning the 4th and pulling a 32 foot trailer.

I'd assume all the snow is gone, but stranger things have happened.

Thanks

Just got home from bald, Road is free and clear no snow on rock creek road, plenty of sites, would just get there early to find a good one.

The trail and weather was great this weekend.  Tons of rigs on Saturday.  Camp grounds open, minimal snow only in patches in the shaded areas.
