Overall a decent trip. Snow was good. Spent too much of the day pulling people out... oh well that is the name of the game. MTRs worked great.

yotatough

IrieKidinCal

Yup Im gonna burn my BFG's and get some MTRs     I wasn't aired down as low as I should have been but the MTRs are a much more superior tire! Had a great time today, great meeting new people too wheel with! Cant wait too go back and do it again!! Except I think Ill put the doors on this time so I dont freeze my balls off LOL..... :hammerhead:

Twisted

Naw, you don't need doors, you could use a better compressor though

IrieKidinCal

It wasn't all that cold...it was the rain that sucked! Im looking into Air systems as we speak! Cant wait too drop my cases and put the stiffer springs in and I might have too grind the linkage down so my cases dont bind up :smack:  The only time they bind is when I try and use my front case [2.28] in low range and my rear [4.7] in 4h. [It works for a while then binds up] but If I enguage both cases in 4L 4L = fine!!  Both cases in 4H 4H =fine  IDK   WTF Ill drop em, this week if I have time. Might have too wait till this weekend!

IKC,

Regarding the binding, I am assuming you are referring to the shifters them selves, correct? Did you build the cases? If so, did you remember to grind about 3/4" off from the front of the transfer case's drivers side shift rail? Also, which brand 4.70:1 gears are you running?

Im thinking my shifter bound up because the front mount is broken and all that bouncing around getting stuck :yikes: i need to come pick up the HD mount! if you guys have them in stock :gap:

I am refering too the shifters binding. Sorry I used the wrong word. :shake: The cases are MC stock 2.28 and 4.7 rear. The guy I bought it off of already had the cases installed. So Im not sure about the assembly of the cases... Im going too give him a call and see if he remembers who and what was done too it apon install?  Any Ideas?? I will try and do some more research on my end about the history of them, I know the entire drive train/ cases and gears have less than 1k miles. IDK what too do...I gues Ill drop them this weekend if I have time  :shake_head: :shake_head: I totaly appreciate you looking into the thread and asking about it!!!   Any extra info or knowledge you might have would be AWSOME!    Thankx Again!

Ok, if it is a :turtle: Marlin Crawler setup as mentioned, then it is not popping out of gear as a result of gear design, but rather as a result of either shift rail interference or handle interference with your boot or cab.

Cant wait too drop my cases and put the stiffer springs in

The stiffer shift spring is only needed for prehistoric Marlin Crawler gear sets (before serial number 630-ish) or non-Marlin Crawler gear sets such as Advanced Adapter gear sets that have a tendency to pop out of gear unexpectedly due to an improper shift hub teeth design.

In other words, you don't need the HD spring if it is shift rail interference!

It is not necessary on a 1979-1983 rear case because the shift rails are shorter.
But if your rear case is a 1984-1995, then you must grind off 1/2" from the front of the drivers side shift rail.
