Remember, you're limiting yourself to a very small and often ill-informed user base when asking here, but there's this huge thing called the internet where you'll find more info on pretty much anything you're looking for than you could possibly absorb. Try searching the internet, I hear it's catching on!
Nothing "requires" higher compression. Higher compression requires higher octane fuel. Lower compression requires whatever fuel you want to throw at it.
