broken clutch pedal bracket?
« on: Nov 05, 2009, 01:44:47 AM »
apparently this is common: http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=660.0

INFO: I will be parting out an 88 runner to build a 94 pickup.

the 94 has broken this bracket but the 88 is good...

Question: I will admit that I have not actually had the chance to look at the 88 runner but I assume its the same bracket correct???

So, I could take the good bracket out of the 88 4runner and install it on the 94 pickup??? I would be sure to beef it up before I re-install it though...

I wouldn't say I've heard of it a lot, but the brackets aren't all that stout, and heavy feet do seem to stress them.  Good thing there are tons of these in the wrecking yards  ;)

Well the plan is to weld it...

but I found this out...

Part number for most trucks: 55106-35050

toyotapartsales.com wants $146.91 for the bracket

This website is AWESOME for finding toyota part numbers
http://www.toyodiy.com

here is a link to the page where I found this part number:
http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/g_U_1994_TOYOTA_HILUX_VZN110L-CRMGEA.html

hope this helps someone... yotatech.com has a lot of threads on this issue.

What year did they start using that bracket?

Is the older 88 bracket a different design and stronger?

the bracket on my 88 4-runner is completely different due to a different firewall... I would have loved to use it...

I did a quick search on the website I listed and found that a 90 3VZ manual pickup had the same bracket... I found on another site that the automatic trucks and 4-runners were identical from about 90-95... (guessing) so it's a common bracket in the junk yards...

Auto and manual brackets are the same other than the studs for the clutch master not being in the auto bracket.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Why would an auto bracket exist?

Don't need a bracket if you don't have a pedal..........

One less part number to have to manufacture.  The way the bracket bolts in it just makes sense to leave that edge of it intact.

I actually have a 94 manual bracket I just pulled out of my truck.  Pay shipping and I'll send it to you.

The bracket didn't look like it had the other pedals attached.........
