The build up begins
« on: Sep 16, 2009, 10:31:52 PM »
Well I was at the rubicon last weekend doing a lil night wheeling and I didn't see a ledge until I was rolling down it.  So my cherry 1980 toyota pickup now resembles a crushed beer can.  Now there's nothing to do but rebuild.  Im thinking im going to try and save up for a post 85 extra cab and put that body on my frame with a 1st gen bobbed bed.  Then deffinatly give it an exo cage.  Thats just my idea for the moment it would probably change by the time I save up the money to buy something.

whaaa???? it doesn't look like the windshield even broke. you lucked out, man! why buy something new when that one isn't even toasted? it looks pretty damn good for being rolled over!! dont frankenstein it yet!! use the money you would spend for a new body, on a nice, tight internal cage so the next time that happens your safety is well guarded.

just my .02

yea the windshield popped out and shattered.  Every corner got a decent helping of rock body work.  I think I am goin to head down to the local hardware store though and pick myself a 5 lb sledge.  Least get her in decent enough shape for a new windshield so I can get through the  winter.

This 1980-82 toyota cab - $100 might work for you, it will cost almost that much to get another windshield.  Hell you might get lucky and get it for less given your circumstances.

it only took a 30 pack and a few shots of jack to put in a new windshield, weld the cracked frame, fake rhino-line the inside, and rattle can everything black.  Took her deer hunting last weekend and she has never run better.  Ready for it to start snowing now.  More pictures on the way of it compleatly finished.
