Could be a number of issues from worn diff mount bushing, control arm bushings, a bad CV, a bad ring gear, might have a lunch box locker in it, possibly bad u-joints but not likely.

Lift the front end up, lock in the hubs, turn the wheels and see if you can hear where the clunk is coming from.

Does it make the sound on both pavement and dirt, or just the pavement?

Do you here any noise when taking off from a stop, or w/a hard stop?  If you do that is usually a sign that the control arm bushings are shot, not uncommon w/a 20 plus year old rig.

Lunch box refers to auto locking differentials, since they are cheaper than the selectable lockers.  I have one in the front of my '91, it makes all kinds of noise when the hubs are locked and everything is in good working order.

As mentioned in the other post just start looking into the front end, and see if anything is loose or worn.
