Thinking of snagging an FJ40 project
« on: Apr 30, 2010, 10:40:16 PM »
I've been looking for a project lately and have considered getting an fj40 if I could find one cheap enough... yea right!  Saw this beat looking 68 on cl for $1500, but that was just waaaay too much for what it was!  Just popped back up for $700 and I'm now seriously considering picking it up, especially if I can get him down a little  :wink2:

Here's how the ad reads:  Project vehicle has no title, I've had it for 8 years. Has 4.3 chevy throttle body motor to go with it as well as 700 R4 GM automatic that was to go in it that I could sell you seperately. I have doors and other parts that arent shown in pictures. $700 firm. No title, I will give you a bill of sale

Looks like a good buy, it'd be tough to find a quad at that price! If you get it (or got it) what plans would you have for it? It looks pretty factory, a couple of fenders an panels with a whole  lot of work an you'll have a sweet little Resto-Cruizer!

I've got my eye on one too, just about the same condition but already has a V8 conversion done. I say go for it.

I would have done a vin # search before buying it, but that one was gone within a day or two of me posting this.  My friend just bought a 73 w/350 up in oregon and we picked it up last sunday.  Body needs some work, as does the electrical, but he already found the root of the biggest electrical issue it had and should have fixed it already.

Also should note, pretty sure I've seen that same one sitting in the same field for at least 10 years, so I was never terribly worried about it being stolen.
