4cyl r&p's in a v6 chunk?

 I'VE GOT FRONT AND REAR 5.29 R&P WITH MASTER INSTALL KITS. MY QUESTION IS WHAT DO I NEED TO INSTALL THE 4CYL GEARS INTO A V6 REAR? I'VE GOT A 4CYL REAR AND A V6 WANT TO USE THE V6 FOR THE EXTRA STRENGTH. MY BUDDY TOLD ME TO BUY A MASTER INSTALL KIT FOR THE V6 AND SELL THE ONE I'VE GOT ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? IT'S FOR A 1988 REG CAB IF IT MATTERS AND THE V6 IS FROM A 1988 4 RUNNER.

It can be done, I have done it, but don't recommend it. The 4 cyl gear will need approx 1/4" of shim behind the pinion bearing causing it to have more deflection and possibly break. Yes the V6 housing is stronger, but what's the point if you are going to make the pinion weaker. Also there is more meat on the V6 gears that adds strength.

MESSAGE RECIEVED! THANKS, I'LL JUST PUT THEM IN THE 4CYL REAR. ARE THE AXLE SHAFTS FROM THE V6 REAR INTERCHANGABLE WITH THE 4CYL?
