4Runner to Pickup Conversion Almost Done
« on: Apr 08, 2010, 08:56:16 PM »
Well here it is in all its glory an 85 4runner solid axle with efi. Bought this last summer as you see it. Had lockers front and rear marlin dual adaptor one case with 4.7s and one stock. Got it for cheap too. Well I destroyed it and decided to make it a pickup truck so here are some pics before the build.

Well I had my work cut out when I decided to make it a pickup truck. Started out by sandblasting the entire frame and repainting it. Next I rebuilt the engine and put that the trans and transfer cases in the frame. Then I had to move the very back cab mount and put the cab on. Since then I put all marlin springs on it, high steer kit, bilstein 5150s, rebuilt the front end, lc engineering header, 37inch creepy crawlers, marlin bumper, found a bobbed bed for it, made a hitch and the list goes on and on. Ill try and post some build pics but there to big to put on here. Here is the two most recent pics of the first flex test. Let me know what ya think. Its got a little ways to go but its almost done now

Well im going to put the bed on this weekend and fenders. I bought a 10 point in cab cage for it so thats next on the list. Then get it painted. Possibly hydro assist and maybe some engine hop ups. Then whatever else comes along the way to improve it.

y didnt you just buy a pick up truck instead of cutting up a perfectly good 4runner?

I rolled it over and the body was trashed so I worked with what I was able to find which was a pickup truck.
