SR 5 wheels
« on: Oct 09, 2004, 04:50:47 PM »
I just got a set of the SR 5 alloy rims that came stock on alot of older toys.  In the future, after the lift kit, I would like to go up to 35's.  I really like the Goodyear MTR's but they come in a 12.5 width.  Would this be too much tire for the rim?  I would only have to split the difference (12.5 - 7 = 5.5 / 2 =2.25 on each side of the rim)
Suggestions
thanks

No,there shouldn't be a problem,in fact, they'll probably stay on better. One of my buddies has a Zook with yota axles, and he's got those wheels on 35 M/Ts,and they seem to work fine, cause he wheels it pretty hard.

You would just have to go bigger for 14+ tires

Right on guys, thanks for the info.  When I put the front rims they hit the tie rod, so I need wheel spacers for the front.  I'll get the 1.5" ones that way I can still a v6 axle in the rear.

You can do it, but you should really have a minimum of an 8" rim for a 12.50 tire. You may end up having some wearing problems because the wheel is pulling the side walls in so much. But like the other guys said....it will definetly hold a bead good.
