Birfield re-assembly
« on: Aug 03, 2009, 04:46:57 PM »
Searched quick and found nothing.

Im finishing buttoning up my axle (rebuild). and ran into a small problem. I am running 30 spline longs, i went around and removed the bearings on each birf so i could get them nice and clean. then, the one of them (passender side) went together fine and dandy. but the drivers side birf feels like its bound up (rotating the cage inside the bell). Is there any specific way to re assemble them? pics would be great

thanks in advance guys for answer the possible newb question.

The Haynes/Chiltons manual covers removal, insp, and reassembaly of the birf.  Should be the same.

I do have a haynes for my truck, but not one for the older trucks these SA's come from (dont have the spare cash either). Anyone have a link to the FSM online or something? i can get it together just fine, but i feel like the binding is bad (should I really be worried?)
