5" Skyjacker + Shackle question
« on: Mar 07, 2010, 11:52:23 AM »
I'm looking at getting a 5" skyjacker softride system + 2" lift Shackles fr/rr which should put me around 7" of total lift correct? Do I need an adjustable drag link for this setup or will I be okay? This is a DD that occasionally sees a little mud but no articulation or trails and is mostly a pavement pounder. Any input would be great! Thanks  :beerchug:

Just because I don't plan on using my truck on the trails doesn't mean I can't lift it. It's my family budget wheeler for camping trips so I don't need anything with extreme flex was all I was saying ..

Nothing and I mean nothing personally against Skyjacker. They are a great company. I've had the same lift you wanna buy, DONT buy it if you value your kidneys. Especially since a DD.  Save the money and buy either Marlin, All-Pro, TG springs. You will be much happier with the ride and of course the flex. If all you want is lift and no "comfort" in the ride then go buy Skyjackers "softride" system. There is nothing soft about those springs.
DD, 22R, L52HD, 35"s, All pro/Marlin Hysteer, 529's, Aussie Locker in rear only. 5" All Pro springs and 5" shackles. Just purpose built and dependable. A/C blows like ice too... www.4x4HIM.org

I ran sky jacker 5" leafs and 2" shackles on my 83 and hated it hilux-83 is right not good for a DD... if you got to cash just get Trail-Gear or Marlin Springs... the fronts will bolt up if you have a longer shackle and dont require high steer for DD just a drop drag link but the rear require remounting spring mounts
