crossmember help
« on: Jan 22, 2009, 07:05:14 PM »
Start by saying I bought my truck with alot of allready purchased parts new in boxes and bags uninstalled mostly marlin, and a couple TG parts. This part from pictures definitly looks like the TG crossmember. Everything he purchased has been dead on from 4.7 gears 23 spline, dual adapters...ETC.

Went to put my dual crossmember on today and none of the bolts line up. This is a 1991 4cyl five speed truck.
The plate kind of sits towards passenger side. Even unbolted the bolt pattern front to rear is a quarter inch to wide, And from driver side to passenger side the crossmember bolt pattern is to wide, if I bolt two of the drivers side bolts in the right holes there is no way the passenger side would fit. The inner holes would fit into the outer holes on the frame leaving the outer holes on the mount hanging off the frame. All the drain holes line up and mounts lined up.
Is it possable that I got the 79 to 83 mount by my description?

Do you have a picture of the crossmember?

I could get one tomorrow, my dual cases bolted right up to it perfectly. Cutout fits front driveline spot. Drain holes are right on. Looks just like the Tg one in there pics. What is the difference in the 79-83 crossmember?

Is the crossmember used?  Or new?  If used, it's possible it's been used HARD.  It's a PITA to get those xmembers back on after they've been flattened out a bit.

Sounds like it was hit hard on the bottom spreading it flatter. Is this crossmember used? (can you see scratches or dents) if so, you may be able to just tip all the bolts in and screw them in a little bit at a time (this may also widen your frame though.
