5VZ Check Engine Light for P0125. Please advise
« on: Feb 28, 2023, 10:13:59 PM »
Vehicle:
1996 Toyota T100 DLX 4x4 5VZFE and R150F

Engine code thrown:
p0125

Symptoms:
None

Parts replaced with factory parts:
Bank 1 pre-cat A/F sensor (Denso)
ECT sensor (was corroded)
Thermostat/seal
Radiator (was leaking so replacement was necessary- yes it was burped over a span of about 15 min with varying throttle and cab heat cranked)

I am at a loss as to what to do next. Before and after each of these parts was replaced I've cleared the code and had it come back. My truck was from CO and most of these parts needed to be replaced due to rust/age anyways, so I am not disappointed in doing the repairs, I am just frustrated with the code.

I have read rumors that the MAF can cause a P0125 code to be thrown but I have no clue if that is true. I do not have a diagnostics tool otherwise I would try my hand at that. I have tried several other O2 sensors as well before leaving the Denso one in there. I used Bosch and the original with no luck.

Please if you have any advice please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Taking advice from a Camry forum (yeah idk) I checked the harness that connects to the bank 1 O2 sensor and found a ground wire with a split in the jacket. I cut that spot out and spliced it back together and have not had an issue since. Only driven about 30 miles, but that's far more than I've ever driven it without the light coming back on.
