Fuel delivery Issues....Help!
« on: Nov 24, 2008, 04:58:09 PM »
Its an 85 4runner with a 22re

Was out on a bumpy dirt road when she just died. I was able to start her but she would only run for about 5 seconds and then die. I had her towed to a local shop who said the fuel injection main relay was out, it was sending power to the fuel pump to prime the engine but other than that wasn't working, explained why it would only run for 5 seconds.

They replaced the relay today (150 in parts and 200 in labor) and I drove it home no problems, however once i parked it she died. Now she will only idle for 50 seconds or so before dying, as well the check engine light is now on and also has a stumble once given gas.

What could be going on here? is there more to the problem than replacing the fuel injection main relay or did they screw something up???

I need help asap as i have to have it ready to drive to thanksgiving and want to make sure these guys arent jerking me around...

-thanks!

You need to call them and let them know their work failed and you want it honored.  I don't understand why so many people waste money at a shop, get hosed and don't stand up for themselves.  Not saying that's what you're doing, but I've seen a lot of people do it and it's frustrating.

I'd say it's more likely you have a bad connection or wiring issue.

Give a man venison, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hunt Blacktail, he'll be frustrated for life!

Since the check engine light is on there is an error code stored in the ECM. Check the code.
