If both of the autos are from a V6, then only the wiring harness that goes to the solenids in the transmission oil pan, and the netural saftey switches will need to be changed. I belive the 89 and newer units use an updated plug design.
If one of the trans are from a 4 cyl, then the torque converter will have to be removed and the bellhousing exchanged.
Both transmissions should be the same length.
