I'm swaping out my rear axle for a tundra axle(which means it will be wider) i want to go wider in the front but i would like to keep it yota, is there any land cruiser solid front axles that are wider than the stock toyota front axle?or some other yota axle that is wider/stronger? or should i just go with a dana 44?

look for an fj80 front axle, wider than a mini axle and has bigger birfs.  you'd have to weld on perches if you want to use leaf springs since its setup with coils from the factory

do you know how expensive landcruiser front axles are!  the FJ80 complete front axle at a junk yard will run ya at least $1000.  I would just get a standard 8" from a mini and put wheel spacers on it.  Or just go with your D44 idea.

Not true. I commonly find those axles here in San DIego for 600-700 dollars complete.

makes me wish i'd gotten into this a few years earlier.  seems everybody and their mom wants toyota parts up here.  there's even ads in the papers and want ads looking for toyotas, running or not.  mainly so they can part them out and charge an arm and a leg for them!

Yes, just get wheel spacers.  A lot cheeper and doesn't need cutting or welding.

well hyena, spacers were an idea i consideredwhich would make it wider,(eleminating the problem of my BIG ASS 40'S rubbing on the spring )but since I'm going to spend money anyway, why not upgrade to a stronger axle right? got any suggestions? thanx.

Go for the FJ80 front. The birfs are something like an 1" in diameter larger. Much beefier around the bearing relief. You can also get them with a factory electric locker, and they're all high pinion. Lots of benefits. The toughest part is the steering. They come from the factory with the steering arms on the bottom, and the top cap is only a 2 bolt design. OTT has built some arms that go on top though, and if you find one that has the abs hole in the knuckle their arms bolt right on.(i think) Their arms put the tie rod and drag link in front of the housing. (like a mini truck) The stock 80 arms have the tie rod behind, and the drag link in front.
I used this front end. I only have one trip on it so far, but i'm very happy. I used the factory elocker, and converted it to cable, and I built my own steering arms. I kept the tie rod behind and the tie rod in front with everything above the springs. By keeping the tie rod behind I can move my front end further forward without having clearance issues with the pitman arm.(i'll post some pics asap)
Ya, it's more money than wheel spacers, but your bearings will last longer, the birf is bigger (especially good running 40's), you get a high pinion front with reverse cut gears, so your running on the strong side, and its still all yota.

Drivers side arm. Tie rod behind. Two bolt top cap, with gusset welded to knuckle for lateral support. The side of the arm is drilled and tapped, and the holes in the gusset are slightly oversized to allow for shim adjustment to the cap. The passenger side is the same, except it has the tie rod behind, and the drag link in front.
