I finally read this thread tonight. I have no idea if the birf eliminator is stronger than those birfs :dunno:
I have not broken anything yet...but I do not hardcore rockcrawl either. I do run trails that have rock sections in them & am not always real nice to those axels if the section of trail requires it. I am running 529's & a Detroit so they do see some stress. They are basically  Dana 44 axles & u-joint. I seem to remember they are necked down at the splines. The price is almost a wash with the new Longs, but those look plenty beefy.

I watched Ish shear off the inner right at the yoke on his hybrid yota/60 last year at G-dale.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

As I remember (could be wrong) there is no bearing in the axle tube so it could possibly bind/flop a bit at the yoke. The more I think about it I think the axle yokes were shaved a bit also. If he broke it in a comp. who knows what it was that caused it. All bets are off then.
