Don't press the clutch in while engaged in double low while the truck is moving down hill purely by gravity.
Umm... that turns it in to a top shift, so yes you need a top shift for the rear. Either way it must be a top shift in the end.
Just wondering, why does this ruin the clutch?
Here's a scenario with purely made up figures....If you are in 4th gear (1:1 out put) double low at 5k you are going 10 mphSo if you are headed down a hill in 4th and double low and its not fast enough and you hit the clutch with it still in gear figure the clutch disk will be spinning 10k rpm's at 20 mph... the disc will explode in the scenario...
Rule #1 - You will end up at the back of the pack on trail runs. The Jeep guys hate how slow you can move on the trail Rule #2 - Jeep guys will be envious of your super low gear ratio after watching you climb up huge rocks without slipping a tire
So when you need to stop while coasting down hill and in gear, what do you do?
