Ok, so I have a business, and I would like to advertise. What I would like to know is, how many people spend the time to click on banner ads found on forums? I am trying to judge if my $$ is worth it to have banner ads on different forums... My gut is telling me no, but who knows.. I know I don't generally click on the banners at the top of forums.

Well, there are no advertising banners on this forum.

As for other forums, I never click on them.

I assume all banner ads are gimmicks and/or scams.  If there is anything that I truely need, I google it, ebay it, or find it locally (yellow pages, word of mouth, etc.)

Thats the feeling I've been getting... I don't advertise many places (pirate is the main place, with the rockbrawlers forum coming soon) I pay for a vendor star on PBB, which isn't cheap, but its where a lot of my business comes from.  I am wanting to put a banner up on the rock brawlers forum, because they seem like cool guys, and I know they like to support land use, so I have no problem supporting them.

I only click on them when I try to click on something else, and right at the same time something else downloads onto the page (pic or something) and the page shifts under the mouse.

I do think its probably a matter of what it is, and where its at though.  Like on pirate, if I see a 12voltguy.com banner, and I'm interested in his stuff, I'd click it mabye, but only if I'm looking/thinkg about it at the time

It would depend on what it is, Click Here For a Free ipod or Click Here For Info About Monavie and no I won't, a banner to Marlin Crawler or something like that I would because I would know it's not going to some stupid waste of my time site.

99.99% of the time I don't even pay attention to them. Occasionally while cruising a site I may see an add for a company I am unaware of. For example I was on a firearm site the other day and saw an add for an online arms dealer I had never heard of. So I clicked it to see if they had good prices. And they did. Haven't bought anything from them yet but I might some day. I did bookmark their site for future reference. That is a rare case though, honestly its probably been a couple years since I clicked on an add on purpose. I do click them on accident sometimes though.... definitely more than I click them on purpose  :hammerhead:

I am wanting to put a banner up on the rock brawlers forum, because they seem like cool guys, and I know they like to support land use, so I have no problem supporting them.

Well that's a different story.

If it is content related I'd be more likely to click on a banner. If you're on a 4x4 site, and in the market for a product or service and the banner advertisement is what you need or something you might be interested in you'd be more likely to check it out.

I was thinking more generic, like those horrible animated dancing people on ads on weather.com I don't even know what the ads are for, but those animated dancing people really tick me off and I would never click on them.
