New question for the Gurus - A343F transfer case options?
« on: Jun 18, 2008, 02:46:19 PM »
Hi all, new here, but not to Toyotas.

I'm putting a JDM market 1KZ-TE Diesel engine into a 94 4runner.  This engine came with an A343F automatic transmission and electronic transfer case.  I'd like to convert to a manual case, and have heard that one off a v6 5spd transmission from a 3rd gen pickup or 2nd gen runner will bolt on as long as I get the reduction box and the adapter "sleeve" that goes into the box.

Does this sound right to anyone else?  Anyone know if these cases are top shift already, and if not can I convert?  The A343F transmission case has an opening for the transfer case lever, but I need it moved back to clear the automatic shifter and avoid having to find a japanese market shifter assembly.

Thanks for any help,

Justin
