I don't know for sure but it might be. We can't see the tailgate for the "SR5" so the next clue would be the interior. It looks like and SR5 gauge cluster and steering wheel, but it doesn't have the little pod gauges under the radio area. It has the SR5 "wing" windows, but no sunroof. Those look like factory bucket seats which I believe only were offered in the SR5. :headscratch: We are just BSing here, so why do you think its not one? :dunno:

Edit: Here is Zukizzy's old SR5 without a sunroof. I did notice that the for sale rig doesn't have headrests on the bucket seats and of course the factory stripes are long gone. :headscratch:

and that nice bumper is gone.  still, a nice truck...

Edit: upon further inspection, that might be something behind the bumper.

Look at the tan rig, it has a push bumper with what appears to be brush guards.

Well...my '82 isn't a SR5 and it has (had) the same steering wheel, guage cluster and arm rests, wing windows and bench seat (look at the back portion). Thats the only true items I see that are exclusively non-SR5. If however it was indeed a SR5, it would have a 3 spoke steering wheel, a gauge cluster W/ tach, and the arm rests would continue at a 45 degree angle up towards the wing window. Other than that the SR5 decal that you spoke of on the tailgate.
Hope that helps.

Good looking truck nonetheless.

thats not an SR5 wheel, they were 3 spoke "leather" wrapped. my non SR5 83 has the wing windows and power steering. SR5's had many differnt combinations of goodies. oh and notice the lack of SR5 armrests on the doors.

nice truck either way

Ive seen this truck running around town and NO its not a SR5 but it is cleaner in person than in the pictures.

I guess it depends on what your buddy wants to do with it. If he is in the market for a super clean, 1st gen, daily driver, then 3K sounds about right. Remember its in the high desert and probably has no rust issues at all.  :yesnod:

If you buddy is thinking about wheeling it, I would find a second gen with EFI.  :twocents:

Maybe the price should be adjusted a bit lower than 3K because it is not an SR5 as advertised.  :dunno: If your buddy does get it, make sure he spends some $ on an anti-theft devise. A clean first gen like that in the SD area might disappear in the middle of the night and head to TJ.

$3K sounds about right to me as well.  With OEM SAS, it's already a good rig.  It just needs an ultra-low-range adapter/kit(MC of course), some bigger tires, skid plates, and about 4 inches of lift to be trail-ready.  Easy and cheap rig if your friends wants to actually off-road.  I'm thinking what - $5K total to do serious off-road and nothing to do dirt roads and the like.

so update on the truck we ran a clue which is like a car facts but its what insurance agents use to see if any claim was ever takin out on the vehicle well it came up that 5 years ago 1700 dollars was paid out on it and it was a collision claim so that means that it was either hit or the owner hit something and it wouldnt be a big deal if the owner told us but he told us that the title was clean and that he is only the second owner he would know that and we asked him for the vin number because it was a long way to drive just to go look at a truck so i wanted to do my research well he would not give us the vin number to it so we could run it and he made a big deal about it so it seemed fishy so needless to say but i dont think the truck is worth 3k anymore

Identical to my 83, same carpet, seat, leather wrapped wheel, and everything even the same color I think hard to tell from the pics.  Mine has AC and the wing windows but it is no SR5.

Well that would explain why it looked odd to us about whether it was a SR5 or not.  Pieces were replaced.  OTOH, he did do a good job of it.

The other trucks(craigslist links):
MOst of them didnt do a thing for me, but this one looked interesting.

The 1981 pickup is a bit high, but looks fine - I'd  check this out.  This is a daily driver by the looks of it and the owner is strapped for cash or can't handle two vehicles where he's moving.  This, IMO, is the perfect type of truck to buy - it works and runs and the owner is selling it because they have to, not because they want to.  Lifted a bit, so just add some armor and parbs and such and it's pretty much read to go from the looks of it.

Yeah, the paint is fugly, but he can always paint it.
