The challenge oif the trails really depends on how much snow they have, none or a lot, fresh powder or iced over, wet(packs nicely) or dry(like driving on sand).

With the 39's you should be fine as long as you air them down.  Most of us that run in the snow like to run our tires at sub 5psi, so you need to have onboard air w/a large enough tank to be able to reseat a bead(or have another way) if you don't have bead locks.  A shovel, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and recovery gear is also mandatory on the run, as well as a properly working e-brake, and the battery must be secured correctly(no bungy), they do(or did) inspect each vehicle Friday before clearing your rig to run the trail.

Some of the higher elevation runs require lockers, as did the Friday night run(if the they still offer it) did several years ago when my buddies and I used to go on the run.

I don't believe the line locks will work since they aren't DOT approved.  You should e-mail the club and ask for sure, you may have to get a d-line ebrake.

1. Roll bar or full cage or factory hard top
2. Functional Parking brake or Mico-Lock
3. Tow strap or rope. (recommend rated at 2 times the vehicle weight).
4. First aid kit (what do you want when you are hurt?)
5. Jack capable of lifting the vehicle and a tool capable of removing lug nuts (don't forget your wheel locks)
6. Spare tire equal to or within 3 inches of existing tires on the vehicle. (no temporary spares).
7. Fire extinguisher with gauge indicating good/full, appropriately stored (not a missile hazard)
8. Seat belts for all passengers
9. Antennas must not exceed 4'6" (54"), (except when longer antennas/whips are required by certain OHV areas). measured from
mount on body, bumper, etc.
10. Adequate attachment points front and rear, i.e., tow hooks, receiver, etc. Tow balls are generally rated for only 2,000 pounds, and that is when hooked to a trailer. They can come off with devastating results. Do not use a tow ball for any form of vehicle recovery operations.
11. Battery hold downs (no bungie cords)

So is anyone going to be at greenhorn this weekend for the Funfest?? I might be out there tomorow (sat) but most likely will be there all day sunday. If anyone wants to hook up and have a brewsky or kick it let me know. Or just find my 4runner when you get out there.

Things worked out and I ended up meeting up with Justin and heading out there. We had a good time, no good roll overs or carnage but it was fun just to kick back the brewskies and check out everyones rigs. Wish I had taken more pictures but my camera batteries were being  :stopit: and kept dying on me.

This is what it looked like at about 10 AM this morning

By 3:00 pm it looked like this

My friend brandon's linked third gen with coilovers and all the other usual goodies

The Twisted Metal Fab buggy...that thing is pissed

This truck belongs to my friends Mike and Logan. I love their cage work

This was a cool Zuk buggy we spotted for on one climb

I pulled up to Greenhorn at about 9:45am to this...

Then by mid afternoon it was like this:

Here is a lifted Toyota...yea its a Cressida I think.  He threw a rod I heard.

Here is a little flop...

The trail going up stream was packed!

My GF liked this; a black jeep with pink trim.

Wade and a couple of others messing around on the falls.

The Mini Rubicon:

Nick messin around upstream.

Actually I thought it was very nice out!

Considering it was the begining of January, that was very nice weather for the area. the last few days it had been very cold and overcast, but Sunday it cleared up. the last several years the winter funfest has been very cold though :)

For some reason that place looks like the diggins out 49. I dunno.
Nevada county is a pretty cool area for mobbing, exploring and what not.
