check engine light?
« on: Dec 12, 2007, 06:36:51 PM »
so im looking to get a taco and i recently called a guy about his. he told me the oil pan has been stripped out (has been tapped before) and he also told me the check engine light is on. he says he thinks its on because of the oil pan but he doesnt know for sure. i am going to check this truck out on saturday and i was hoping someone could give me some tips as to why the engine light is on and what i should be looking for? also if the oil pan is really the reason the light is on? anything will be helpful as i dont know much about tacomas. its a 00 if that makes a diff.

99% of the time the CEL is on due to an emissions inefficiency fault or a short

the CEL does not trigger because the drain plug on the oil pan is stripped....
