Nox sensor wire
« on: Nov 28, 2007, 02:37:39 PM »
Just bought a 85 Runner and the check engine light is on. Talked to a buddy who happens to be a mechanic and he figures out that it's the NOX sensor the wire is hanging ( not connected ) so he tries to hook it up and its to short  :smack:. I start going out to the junk yards to find one with no luck  :dunno:  Any body have any idea's on how to fix  :inthedark:

  Thanks,

              John

There's a couple of 'not used' connectors (common wiring harness for different needs) so are you sure it's the correct wire?

what do you mean by NOX sensor? NOx is Oxides of Nitrogen, and only come into play with SMOG terminology.  You DO, however, have an O2 (oxygen) sensor in your exhaust, and a KNOCK sensor in the engine.  Which do you mean?

Im talking about the sensor between the oil filter and starter I was told it was Nox but I could be mistaken.  It has 2 wires that go to it and they are covered witha steel braided looking insulation.

The only "sensor" that I know of would be the oil pressure sending unit. :headscratch:
