which block do i have
« on: Aug 05, 2007, 06:18:45 PM »
Ive been curious here laltey, my truck's sticker says 9/82. It has the double row timing chain. The valve cover says 22r, but knowing the previous owner, theres no telling what kind of swapping and switching he did.

My question is , is there a way to id the block as a 20r or 22r? Thanks alot.

On the drivers side - look where the dipstick enters the block
To the left is the block serial number
To the right is the block type (20R or 22R)
yeah yeah - still IFS...

the number is ***** -35020, cant remember the first numbers. It doesnt say r after the 20. Will the 20r or 22r be seperated from the serial number? thanks.

I found it!! Phew scare me. So whats the deal with some 22r's comming with double rollers, and some single? is there some sort of pattern to this or did they just throw the doubles in motors here and there?
