the bell housing should be the same in both.

i assume the clutch cancal is not needed. you want to start the truck with the clutch in anyway. in my buddys 89 yota he has only used the cancal button a few times on step hills(my 83 don't have that feature). i don't know about your electircal questions, but the trannys almost certainly have diffrent plugs.

who needs a light that say's your in 4x4 any way or reverse lights? every thing should bolt right up if you have all the parts there should be a hole in the fire wall for the master cyl just have to knock the plate out. my buddy swaped a auto out of an 84 for a carbed 85 tranny and it was all bolt in pretty much.didnt have to manufacture anything took about a day.
89 ext cab sas with diamond +4 1/2" housing 30 spline longs and hub gears, hp elocker, six studs, arp studs in everything, taco rear with elocker. swaped out 22re for 3.4l supercharged, urd 2.0" pulley, urd fuel management, downey headers, flowmaster, cold air intake, marlin clutch that is straining to hold up

I have an 85 that use to be an automatic and now has a 86 manual in it.  I have no neutral safety switch and no back up lights.  You don't really need them unless you forget to check that you are in neutral or that you have the clutch in automatically when you start it.  Kind of common practice once you've driven a clutch for a while.  I have had no problems other than annoying clusters of wires that don't connect to anything.   :beerchug:
