ALMOST TIME!
« on: Jun 11, 2007, 10:41:38 AM »
I accidentally posted this in the General 4wd board as well but here it is again.
I am almost ready to order the lift for my 85 4runner. My ? is this. should I go with 4" MC springs all around, or should I do the 5" in the rear. I have heard some different opinions on this. I will be running with the hard top in the winter and  also I will be running 35" tires. I want to keep my COG as low as possible but also want enough lift to clear the 35's in the back.

One other ? that I have is what size of Billstein should I go with, 12" or 14" I want as much articulation as possible but don't know if I need the extra "s that the 14's will give. I will be setting my shocks up in the upside down V in the rear.

Thanks

tehre are lot of opinions on the shocks.... there is some chart that shows effectiveness.... ultimately |    |   is the most efficient for shcoks dampening, but limits articulation some people mount the shocks /  \

if go 5" just because they will ultimately settle out some and you have weight in the back

Thanks jim,  Is there anyone who has put a MC lift on their 4runner that has any input on the lift or the shocks??

Thanks in advance.

I have MC 4" Betts (USA springs on mine) with 14" Bilstein.  The setup works great.  I am running 36" IROKS.  I have taken it out a couple of times and it barely rubs the fenders in the rear.  With 35's you should be fine.

What is the purpose for the upside down \ / shocks?  My shocks are like this / \ and the setup works great with the Bilsteins.  I have very little body roll.

hotrod81, are you happy with the 4" usa's in the rear of your 4runner?? Do you see the need for the 5" in the rear over the 4"??? I am very close to placing my order and want all the input that I can get.

Also by upside down V I meant like this /\, the same way that you are running them.

Thanks

I really don't feel the need for 5" .  I know a lot of people run 4's in the front and 5's in the rear.  I really like the USA springs and they have held their shape for a long time.  My rig sits level also.  I like to keep a low COG.

hotrod 81, Thanks first of all for all your advice. I was wondering if you would be willing to either post a couple of pics of your runner or e-mail me some pic's of it so that I can see how it looks with the 4" and 36's.

Thanks a ton for your time.

First off nice runner, also thanks for the pic's. The 4" look like they are plenty big. What size of rear shackle are you running?

Thanks again
