Need to mount dual tcases to a w59
« on: Mar 14, 2007, 08:52:37 PM »
What adapter do I need to get my dual tcases (83/84 top shifters) to my 1996 4 runner 5 speed (W59 since it's behind a 3rz)

I thought I had a link to one but maybe I was wrong or does it just bolt up?

yea I have couple toy axles...not sure if I just want to throw my 83 axle under it or do a fresh rebuild...mainly I want to get the drive train sorted out first. The duals are currently sitting in my 83, but sinceI don't wheel it anymore, I've decided to start pulling it apart to prepare for building my 4runna...

I just can't find the bloody adapter. I've seen the V6 to dual-gear driven tcases. but I'm not sure If I want to get a r150 plus the bellhousing adapter, plus the daul case adapter...and then of course you might as well trick out the r150...it just doesn't stop.  :rofl2:

if you do use a right passanger side axle all you need is a Tacoma adaptor plate to mount that all up.  the bad thing about using a mini truck axle is that is way narrower than the rear end you have in your 4runner.  you might think of a Dimond housing (if you want to keep it toyota) or some kind of Chevy Dana axle with a passanger side housing.  far as using a R150 it is a awesome up grade but the tranny you have now is strong to.

http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/transfercase/taco_box.htm

and you will need MC-14121, Model# 27-4GT 2.7L 4Cyl / 5-Speed, $349

that plate will let you run Dual mini truck cases behind your W59 tranny

I think a W56 will bolt up to the bellhousing you have and the dual cases bolt up to the W56.

That is what I used to run behind my 3RZ and W56....
