ditching the weber..
« on: Apr 19, 2007, 10:50:55 PM »
so i decided to ditch the weber since it makes my truck run like crap and im tired of trying to tune it then it just goes back to being a piece of crap. so anyways, i got a basically brand new stock toyota carb that im going to throw back on, but i got rid of all the old vacuum stuff when i got the weber, so i was wondering if i need all that stuff or can i just plug all the vacuum lines and such on the toy carb and it will run good...?

i am not sure, but i know there is a lot that people do cap off..... my truck is an 84, and its stock diagram actually has many of the ports on the carb blocked off to spec

My '84 Runner has a very low tolerance of having any of the vaccum lines removed.

I'd check www.performancewebers.com before trying to rig a stocker back on.
I've had plenty of frustration with my 38dgas but I found an old haynes weber book and that helped alot.
They're iffy carbs but, they're also pretty simple as far as diagnosing and servicing once you get the hang of it.
The guy at the website listed above does some pretty simple mods at a great price too get these things runnin' straight up and sideways. I'm thinkin' of sending him mine but I also have the motor and harness out of an 85 runner I'm thinkin' of swapping in.
