22RE Cam journal wear-
« on: Mar 19, 2007, 06:26:23 PM »
Started tearing into my basket case (litterally) 22RE.  I have a shop that is going to check the block for me once I have it torn down.  The head is supposedly an LC engineering unit-  Any way to tell if it is?  Same for Camshaft?  Where to look for #s?

The head was still in plastic from the machine shop where it had been checked to be good (previous owner)
I tried turning the camshaft, and found that it rotated freely, except that it seemed to grab at the same point every rotation (WHY?)  I pulled the cam journals, and it still seems to grab with them removed.  I did find some wear on the journals built into the head- how much is normal?

I guess I'm going to take the head to the machine shop as well, but I'm having trouble sleeping as I can't get this out of my mind.

Any input appreciated.

John
