Light problem
« on: Feb 15, 2007, 09:08:14 PM »
I have a 1987 toyota pickup 4x4 22-r 5-speed and it started acting really weird the other day...I was driving down the road and all of a sudden my battery and brake light in my dash came on at the same time when i was slowing down to stop.  They stayed on until i got home with it and cut it off and back on. But they will keep going on and off as they please.  I have no clue what the problem could be and i'm in some dire need of help.

thanks in advance,
Alex

sounds like its the alternator or the voltage regulator, some alternators have an internal voltage regulator, yours should have an internal one

it cant be the alternator because i have disconnected the positive lead to the battery and the truck still runs... this is why i'm stumpped.

check the brake fluid resevour. if it is low it will kick on both lights. if it is low and the lights are on, it may be time for new pads.
