Newbie from the Bay
« on: Jan 05, 2007, 03:43:14 PM »
Hello everyone, I use to drive a 2004 Tacoma: 4-Cly, PreRunner, SR5, 32 BFG ALTs, crappy but reliable CB, and stock height..until it got messed up a second time. First time was when I was offroading with friends and flipped it. We drove it back to the house but it still needed to be towed and fixed. I kept every dent in it and loved it until it met its final day. The second time was pretty bad and luckily no one was injured but my truck sure as heck didn't pull through. Lucky for us, Tacoma makes a great frame which kept us alive.
I'm not on my computer so spare with me with the "need more pictures." I recently purchased a second Tacoma except it's a 2001 v6 with the TRD. I was trying to find the same truck with low milage and 4x4 and ended up getting prices way out of my limit. But, I came across a beauty that had the lockers at least and with low mileage. I plan on getting pictures of the new truck when I find the suspension lift kit of my dreams.

Pictures after the first roll.

Pictures of the final blow. We also rolled down the hill after hitting the tree.

The next day, we went back to the scene to try and recover anything and hopefully the tire. But found that it was no use.

For my new truck, I'm trying to find a suspension kit that it 4"-5"s. I've checked out the major brands such as Pro Comp, Fab Tech, Tuff County, and ect. But I can't decide on which one. I know that FabTech has one for 6"s but that's kinda pushing it for me with money and height, but I'll get it as a last resort. Tuff Country has the suspension kit for a 5" lift (with or without their brand shocks) and I wanted to get some feedback on what people think of their product. Any positive or negative feedback on any suspension lift kits would be helpful.

I travel around San Jose a lot around weekends mostly.  Even though 2wd can only take me so far I can at least still enjoy a good time. In my 4-Cyl I hit a nice mud pit and ended up almost getting stuck. But I reversed out and of course put my baby in dive and drove it right back in. Then I finally got stuck after doing that.

Tuff-country did right by me with the 2 1/2 inch lift.. Put it on myself. and it gave me three whole inches of lift.

Yah, people are saying that 4-5" is a bit much. So I've been doing some research on the SkyJacker 2.5-3" suspension lift kit. I was mostly checking out the 2.5-3" Platinum Coilover Series Kit w/ Add-A-Leafs kit with the SkyJacker Hydro 7000 shocks. The shocks seem to do great for it's price. Anyone have any problems with the kit or those shocks?

Hi Kell,  I remember when your last truck had it's final day (that totally sucked BTW). I know Johnny and Jacob. I'm the guy who helped Jacob build his truck. Of course we haven't met. But, glad to hear you got another rig and that you aren't giving up. Good luck building you rig and if you need help just talk to johnny or jacob, I'd be glad to help if I can.

I haven't seen John in a while and I see jacob pretty often, at least when we're both not working. :working: Nonetheless, If you have questions feel free to ask or even come by if you'd like. I live like two blocks from Jacob's parents house. I'd like to see what you plan on doing to your rig. 8) also you can see all the stuff I've done to mine so far.  Maybe you should go with us to Hollister next time. That's always fun!  :woohoo: Anyway, talk to ya later.
