Hi, i got an '86 4cycl 5spd 4runner with 300k on it. I use it as my daily driver, i have driven it across Texas twice none stop, she burns a little oil but other than that she has never left me anywhere. My question is would it be wise for me to drive her 4k mile to North Pole Alaska? i live in DEEP DEEP south Texas (as far south as you can get in the USA) all the way to Alaska??? Anyone ever driven that far in their classic toys?

a friend of mine has a old cruiser it has over 1 mill on it never been opend up and still running factory alt, he said he would drive it any where in the us its up to you i guess

If it seems reliable to you go for it! Sounds to me like it will make it. If this is going to be in the winter remember to be prepared if something does happen. Alaska is mighty cold right now.

Depends on what you think really. Its hard for us to say, without knowing the vehicle. I wouldn't try to drive my truck to North Pole, AK and its got about 220K on it, (3rd gen toy) but I also know a guy who has an '84 2wd that has something liek 600k on the original motor that I would drive that thing to China if I had to.

It really comes down to what you think, are comfortable with, and your experience with the truck. Regardless of what you decide,

I think it depends on how capable you are when it comes to repairs and maintence. I couldn't imagine rebuilding a motor on a roadside but just about anything is possible.
