Hey. Been here for a little while and thought it was time to get me a build thread going. I picked me up an 80 Yota Pickup for cheap. The bed had already been bobbed, But crappily. I will have to redo some things on that. The engine was getting old, had a knock, and had NO Power. I picked up another 20r on Wednesday and I got it put in yesterday. I got it all hooked up and stuff and as i was connecting the negative battery terminal back up, it was sparking, After a few minutes i realized it was my alternator that wa smaking it do this, I dont know why, but it was. Anyways so I unhooked that and she fired right up. I didnt let it run for more than about 10 seconds because it didnt have any coolant because It has an extra hose fitting coming off of my engine. i gotta figure out how to "T" it off into my heater core, my old 20r didnt have that. So my question is would it be ok to "T" It or should I just plug it off? Also, why would the alternator be causing my negative to spark?
My Plans:
Link it front and Rear. (3 or 4 not sure?)
Sliders made out of 2x4x1/8 wall
Exo-Cage
Heavy duty tie rod with fj80 or Heim ends
Corbeau SS Seats
Lock right Locker Rear (On its way as we speak in the mail)
Lock right in front (Later down the road)
Maybe put a few seats and seat belts in the bed
Tube doors/Doorless maybe
And then
