Topic: Power steering pump very loud on start up

There is a loud squeal coming for the power steering pump (i think) on start up.  If the truck has been sitting and it has not been run for a few hours and I get in it and drive off the pump is very loud for the first min. or 2.  Is the pump going out or is there something else I can do besides letting the truck warm up.  It is 90 + degrees here in Texas. And I do not see the need for the warm up.  thanks for the help

Are you sure the belt is in good shape and tight. If the belt is glazed or hard it will not grip the pulley till it gets hot. I would start with a new belt. If it continues after that there may be something wrong with the pump.

I will check the belt.  The truck has 15000 miles on it and still under warrenty.  Thanks for your help.  If it keeps up im going to take it in.
