EFI Cost?
« on: Jun 30, 2006, 09:14:02 PM »
I searched, but I didn't really find anything on the cost of swapping EFI. I have to do a head gasket in my truck, and a 251 thousand miles, I figure I'm better off just doing anything I want to do now instead of opening it up again later (because there is no opening up a high mile motor without finding more than you went in to fix), this includes a cam and more than likely a rebuild, and if I'm gonna have everything out anyway, why not just top it off with a nice EFI setup. What am I looking at as far as cost if I bought everything separate? I figure I'd be able to find a wrecked 22RE powered something for a few hundred to pull everything out of, most likely a celica because even junked trucks up here are priced like they're gold plated.

Try and get everthing from one truck/car. If you piece it together it will cost more and be a pain in the a$$. I paid 200 for the complete set-up when I did mine. Got ever thing I needed at once.
I don't need a winch, I wheel a TOYOTA!!!!!!!

I bought my 85 4Runner for $375 and it has all the EFI stuff I need.  Granted the motor was trashed, but for $650, I got a rebuilt shortblock and am building up the 22RE.  I plan on selling it after I take all the stuff I need off of it so I should make most of my money back.
