HELP ME!!!!
« on: Jun 13, 2006, 05:51:46 PM »
First off I have a '85 Toy Pick-up with a 5spd. I noticed that the shift fork was really loose so I took off the shift boot thinking it was just the bolts needing tightening. Well it wasn’t the bolts. This is what it looks like. I looked in my Chilton manual and found nothing.

If that don't take care of it then you may have the forks with the nylon that is worn off.

That would be a little harder to fix and you may consider a rebuilt trany.

 MC-10078, Shifter Socket $6

The seat is the large one that sits in the shifter base.  The socket is the small one.  It pops onto the end of the shifter and sits in the trans.

Ok I only need the seat.  But would it be fine to drive without one for 2-3 days till the parts come in from Marlin?

That is the boot to cover the shifter to the trans, yes it will work and I see you need one too. The floor boot for the shifter is square.

Ok so I got my parts in from Marlin today and I started to put it all back together but now the lock collar is to worn down to lock down and stay.(pic below)  The parts people at the stealership said I would have to order the hole base assembly to get just this one piece I need.  I am thinking about using my dremel to notch more off so it will stay in place but I would like a backup in case that I screw it up.  Where can I get one?  Is there a place that sells new ones?(other than the stealership?)

Much help needed and welcomed!

Wow, that thing has been rattling around for a while.

You should be able to get one from the salvage yards that will be in better shape. I belive the Celicas have the same collar, but take yours to match them up.

This is how it should look if you want to try to reshape it.

I ended up going for it.  It turned out good.  I did like Willy Mammoth showed in the picture.  I went over then made a small lip so it wouldn't pop out again.  Drives like a sports car now (that is shifting   not the speed or handleing)  lol :screwy:
