Topic: clutch noise???

just recently bought an 89 toyota with a glorious 22re, totally stoked!!  the only thing that worries me is that when i shift  there is a quick "dong" sound.  it doesnt happen very often, but its something ive never heard.  anyone know what this sound could be?

When I was getting a similar noise, it was from the front U-joint.   I had actually cracked the "flange yoke" (is this the right term?)  where the u-joint is bolted to the tcase output..    The front part of my drive line was completly ready to fall out, and the wierd thing was is that there was no vibrations going on.    I suppose it's worth a look right.

Check to see if the rubber in your t-case mount fell out.

a dong sound??? if it sounds hollow i agee with big mike, normal clutch noises are squeels and change with pedal movement normaly. 1 thing i noticed with my toy is the ifs can make weird noises at turns and hard excell or decell.?
