Topic: Rear Chromo axles

I was looking on Marlin's site at the price of the rear 4340 axle shafts and then looked at All Poo's site and there appears to be a big difference in price.  Both claim to have 4340 material, All Poo offers a 5 year warranty but Marlin's are more $$$.

Anybody have any thoughts?

I have no doubts in Marlin, I have been fortunate enough to meet and spend a short while with him.  I simply wanted to know "if" there is a difference in the two axles what is it?

im not sure,  dont know if allpros are the exact same from the same manufacturer,  but if its not a huge $ difference  i'd get Marlins

somebody  here purchased a dual case adaprt 3 years ago and because of there situation didnt get around to installing it till recently  and something was missing,  what ya think happened??

I believe it was over a $100.00 difference.

I met Marlin last year at the Jeepers Jamboree on the Con.  My buddy broke his Cruiser right smack in the middle of Big Sluice!  We drug it to the bottom, next to the water and shortly after that Marlin and his crew showed up and were WAY helpful and willing to do WHATEVER it took to get us back up and running.  The guy is an awesome example of good ethics and a servants heart!

All-pro also says there birfields are stronger then stock but we all know that isn't true.  I wouldn't buy anything from them.  Marlin all the way.

i always thought all pro's were 4130 axles?  i think alloy rear shafts are a waste of money, though...

Nope, says on there site that they are made from 4340.

I gots to agree with da kyle...unless you run 40's and POUND on your rig, I don't see you breakin a rear axle.  Front will go first.  Bu then again, its an s10?  Spontaneous explosion?

yeah, been pretty busy with my new job lately, and been working on my boat so the beater has been spending most of its time sitting probably gonna start working on it again soon, will probably get some longs and chromo shafts for the front(of course, after i already rebuild the damn front end) and gotta put my springs and 3rd member in the rear.  then MAYBE i'll get to wheel it

someone I camped with at the hammers broke a rear shaft with some generic brand 35" tires and he drove his truck real easy.  another thing about the chromo shafts it they resist bending by the flange better where the stock ones will bend from jumping or hitting things like mine is.

It is a rare thing, breaking rear axles.  I agree, they are STRONG!  Made out of stout material where most OEM stuff are much weaker.  My junk is heavier then most Yota's.  Close to 5k lbs with two people in and when you think of the brutal weight transfer when crawling a steep climb, I think the chromo rear's are a safe bet.
