L50 popping out of second

hmm just started doing this,  it started a couple days ago, :down: i dont think it was all the way in gear, :eek:  i was under full throttle and at around 4000 or so it jumped out of gear,   now it pops  out whenever im coasting in second  :rivers:

bent fork ??   main shaft bearing ??

not sure on that one, but sounds like a good time to put in a W56 :eyebrow:

Hmmm, It doesn't sound like a bearing problem. Not going from kicking out of gear once, them going to doing it on other gears all the time...but hey, stranger things ya know.

I would lean towards the shift fork considering how it happened and the fact that its doing it often since that day.
Have fun fixin it though bud :beerchug:

i know where a G54 is that was out of a wreck maybe i can get my L50 bored so i can install the 54 guts into my L housing  :dunno:  Marlin ??

I'd either do that or just transplant the g54 and give my front driveline a little break!

Are you sure that that little plastic bushing on the bottom of the shifter isn't worn out.  That will make it pop out of gear sometimes.

ya that little plastic ball on the shifter would be my guess to. i replaced one on my 94 and it shifts like a brand new tranny and it used to feel like it was in neutral in any gear and it would pop out of gear at will.

i would replace that $.50 part before replacing the tranny.
