rear brake line
« on: Sep 23, 2005, 09:34:11 AM »
Is there a rule of how much lift can be done to the Tacoma before the rear brake line needs to be replaced with a longer one? Thanks

I would think the same issues would apply to the Taco as any of the Toyota mini's. Also you could relocate the mount and get away with even more. I was ok with 4 inches of lift on my past rigs by moving the mounts for the lines. My current truck had already been changed with a braided line.

In my experience working on lifted Taco's at work, you can only get away with a 1.5" rear lift before the line is stretched with the axle at full droop (i.e., on a lift at a service shop...) and thats with the stock shocks still installed.  Stock shocks LIMIT how much the axle will droop by about 1".  If you've got extended shackles and longer shocks, then you need to pony up for an extended rear brake line.

ALSO:  If you've got a TRD rear electric locker, you need to check the routing of the wires to be sure they've got enough slack as well!
