I have an 85 4runner and found a good deal on a 2003 v6 tacoma engine And was wondering would my 86 turbo transmission match up?  Would It be too crazy to wire all this up and not worth my time or money?  I was rebuiling a 22rte engine and Found this motor.  I have saved 2000 bucks and this Engine is 1150.  what is the best waste of money? what will give me more power?  I was going to Bore the 22rte and try to upgrade the turbo get frorged pistons and what ever else 2000 bucks got me. but I wonder if the v6 would be better or just a big pain in the butt.   thanks in advance.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

If it is an R series tranny it will work if you get a 3.0 or 3.4 bellhousing, starter, flywheel and clutch.
