Hurricane Rita "live"
« on: Sep 24, 2005, 07:38:32 AM »
We're getting hammered by this hurricane right now, we're getting about 80 mph winds and gusts over 100. We're about 200 miles from the coast and the roof is off of our family business and the ceiling is caving in. I'll keep everyone up to date on new occurrences. The worst part is that some of my college buddies are here and driving me nuts and I can't get away from them, our house is college refugee headquarters.

We're here in Nacogdoches, TX. The wind is really starting to pick up now and the eye should be here in under an hour. We still have power though!!!

We'll we made it through the hurricane and ended up being ok, but there's a lot of damage everywhere in out neighborhood. We didn't lose any trees but there are five in out neighboors yard and my grandparents are about 100 miles south of us and they lost eight trees in their yard and my dad lost so many that he hasn't even tried to count the ones that he's lost. Here in Nacogdoches they said that it'll be about 4-5 days for most of Nac to get electricity and in Newton where my grandparents are they said it that it would be at least 4 weeks for electricity.
Thanks for the prayers and keep it up for everyone else affected.

How is your house? All windows intact? Hopefully all your friends and family make it through ok. Good luck with recovering and all that.
