Get an 84-85 22r put a 20r head on top a good increase in power will come of it. This is what I have and it is a bolt up deal.

Hey sorry to get offtopic kinda...

But Rocksurfer, do you live in CA and can it still get smogged? Did you do anything at all with the 20r head? And did you just change the headgasket and the exhaust manifold gasket? Im about to do it this weekend. Oh and did you use the 22r carb? I am going to and I just got the LCE adapter... Let me know please! And was it a good amount of power and did it take a day or less?
RIP Kyota.... you are the man

GET IT!!!

Everything looks the same so the smog techs don't know that it is really a 22r when it should be a 20r, just like if you own a Samurai and swap the 1300 for the 1600, you can't tell any difference. Plus every legal mod beyond that, like my headers, aux. gas tank and so on are CA. legal and I have the cert. stickers for them mounted in the door like you are supposed to.

Also my truck is supposed to be a 20r so all the hoses are there and no different at all, the only thing that is 22r is the block and everything above the block is 20r. I don't know what year you have but if it is a 22r you can use your 22r parts with the 20r head. In fact I would recomend doing it that way. Make it look all original, if you have a truck that came with a 22r use the 22r carb and all the smog junk that goes with it, if your truck came with a 20r use all your 20r parts except for the 22r block.
