got me a new trailer
« on: Jul 18, 2005, 07:42:26 AM »
I went saturday to get a trailer.I was looking at getting a new one 16' long with just a wooden floor for about $1600.Well,I ended up bringing home a 18' steel deck car trailer. They offered me a good price on it cause they said it needed to go.What's a trailer like this normally sell for? Just wondering if I got a good deal or if they where just telling me that.

Here in Cali, they go for about $2500...I had a 16 ft. that I bought for $1600 about 2 years ago,but I couldn't use it any more after putting full width 1 tons under my Junk,so I had one made just for the Jeep, and it cost me $2000...Everyone who's seen it says I got a killer deal!.

One of the guy's that was working there said they retail for $2600,but they usually sell them for $2495.I got this one for $1995 plus tax, tag, and title. For a total of $2054 out the door.I figured that was a good deal for a brand new trailer.

NICE!  Wanna take my truck for a ride?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

u got a pretty good deal. i helped make a few trailers in my welding class, only downside to a metal floor is the weight, but well worth it.

a lot of these trailers can't even be built for the price you buy them for.  i bet if you add up all the steel, the axles, wheels and tires, taillights, and wiring you will be scratching your head for where the labor cost is at
in the projects nooga, anything goes

the steel isnt that bad, neither are the lights/wireing. between tires, wheels, and steel ur probly gonna pay about 900-1200, depending on wheels/tires. lights and wireing shouldnt cost any more than 50 bucks at the absolute most. idk about axles.

That trailer is definitely sweet!  Do yourself a favor though...throw and old bed comforter in the truck when you go wheeling...

When the trailer is left out in the sun all day, laying down on it to strap down your truck is like laying down on a hot griddle!!!  It'll burn the ever living snot outta the backs of your arms (ask me how I know...)  Put that old blanket down first and avoid the frying pan sensation!   :flamer:

I won't have to lay down on it to chain it down, but that's a good idea to carry a blanket in case I wanna lay on it to do some work underneath, thanks for the thought.

Ok everyone at the same time: How do you know!!!

Sounds like a very good deal, I bought one new with a wood floor in 98, cost about 3,000.00 with surge brakes and tilt bed.

I used a trailer a couple years ago that had surge brakes. That was the most annoying trip I have ever made with a trailer.Ever time I even just let off the gas it would pretty much throw you through the windsheild.
