'81 22r troubles
« on: Jul 25, 2005, 01:57:18 PM »
I am having troubles with my '81 22r.  It ran awesome before I rolled it.  And even after I rolled it it ran the same.  Then I did a cab swap which requires swapping out the harness.  Ever since then I have had a random problem.  Sometimes it will start up and run at it's high idle then it will die when I kick it down (off of choke).  And another weird thing is that I've gone through two optima red top batteries.  Before I had any of these problems I had my original red top in and it was fine.  Then my buddy dropped it on a steel table and sparked both terminals. now i am having problems with the battery.  it is now running good when i start it (the idle problems are gone) but i can't seem to keep a battery charged. if i leave the terminals connected to the battery it will drain it so far that a charger can't even charge it.  ANY IDEAS?
in the projects nooga, anything goes

well, for starters, youve got a short somewhere...maybe you pinched a wire during the swap?  is the alt leaking current when the truck is off?  you just gotta go through it...
